Shannon-Wightman-5650.jpg

Campus Champion

Shannon Wightman can’t help but leave a memorable first impression on prospective students — or anyone she meets for that matter. The charismatic admissions advisor stays connected to students and their families long after their first handshake, building relationships that last years after they receive an acceptance letter. Shannon recruits out-of-state students primarily from the Southeast, stressing the value of a SUNY Cortland education as faraway as Georgia and Florida. Guided by an appreciation for family, friends and faith, Shannon lives out her motto: “I try to be the best person for them, then watch them be the best they can be.”
