Campus Champion

Colleen Buchanan took up Scottish highland dance as a child and soon after set her sights on a stage career. A performance-related injury altered those plans, but now here she is decades later: a well-rounded physical education instructor and the Dance Education Teacher of the Year as determined by the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. In addition to rhythms and dance, Colleen teaches self defense, adventure activities, lifetime fitness activities and classroom methods at the College. She made the shift from performer to professor, and turned out to be a star just the same.

Kelsey Reardon, an international studies: international health major, grabs debris from the Tioughnioga River as part of the Cortland County River Cleanup held on Sept. 27. The annual event, sponsored by the Cortland County Soil and Water Conservation District, encourages teams to volunteer to remove trash and debris from local waterways. The College’s Geology Club and Environmental Club were among the members of the community who showed up on this sunny fall morning.
