Campus Champion
SUNY Cortland has long provided opportunities for young people with disabilities to participate in physical activity. After joining SUNY Cortland six years ago, Cathy MacDonald, associate professor of physical education, saw that adults with disabilities had limited opportunities to be physically active once they aged out of our programs, so she created a Wednesday night fitness program aimed at adults. The successful collaboration between the College and community was recognized when Cathy was presented with a Franziska Racker Centers Special Friend Award in May for supporting people with disabilities. Presently, Cathy is championing goalball as an adapted physical education community program. Read more about the College’s two national champion goalball teams. Nominate a Campus Champion
