Campus ChampionAssociate Professor of Geography Wendy Miller appreciates that the evolving industry of geographic information systems (GIS) offers excellent opportunities to partner with students and faculty outside of the Geography Department. Technology used for digital map-making and drones is complementing work by biologists, geologists, criminologists and historians — at SUNY Cortland and in the community. It’s an exciting time for Wendy, who 11 years ago joined the department she now heads, and for the GIS program, which recently added two ambitious faculty members, received a grant as part of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative award, and boasts an amazing placement rate for its graduates.
