The football teams from SUNY Cortland and Ithaca College will square off in the annual Cortaca Jug game on Saturday, Nov. 16, which will be played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
But that isn’t the only competition happening between the two colleges this year.
During The Cortaca Challenge the two football rivals will vie to see which institution can get the greatest number of alumni and friends to show their support through a financial gift. To qualify, a gift can be as little as $5.
The winning school gets bragging rights and a check for $150, in honor of college football’s 150th season, from the losing school’s vice president for institutional advancement.
Peter Perkins, Cortland’s vice president for institutional advancement, has pledged a matching gift of $150 should Cortland win the challenge.
The Cortaca Challenge begins on Tuesday, Nov. 12, and will end at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16.
Cortland alumni who participate in the Cortaca Challenge will be entered automatically into the SUNY Cortland Alumni Association’s game-day raffle.
Gifts may be made online at RedDragonNetwork.org/cortacachallenge, via phone by calling 607-753-5744 or in person in Brockway Hall.
