Musical Theatre Talent Sings for Nicaragua

02/19/2014

The SUNY Cortland musical theatre students will showcase their talented voices in a benefit concert, “Cabaret for Nicaragua.”

This concert, presented by the Nursing Field Study Program of Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3) and the Rotary Club of Cortland, will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 22 at the Forum at TC3.

The students will sing from the classics of American musical theater repertoire as well as standards from the great American songbook.

The performance will consist of an hour-and-a-half program with an intermission that features a 50/50 auction and coffee and desert items.

Tickets are $7 for students, $15 for individual adults and $25 for adult couples. They are available from Cortland Rotarians, TC3 nursing students, participating SUNY Cortland Preforming Arts faculty, staff and students, or at the door.

Concert proceeds will support the purchase of medical supplies for the nursing program’s fieldwork in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua. The Rotary Club will propose a matching grant of the total profits and has already funded $3,000 in medical supplies to the TC3 nursing program for its field experience in Nicaragua in January over the winter break.
