Gov. Andrew Cuomo has closed state offices for today, Monday, Feb. 1, due to potentially hazardous weather conditions and urged workers to go home. This will not impact any online courses, which will continue to meet today as scheduled. Students with in-person classes scheduled for today should consult Blackboard to learn whether their class is moving online.
Students scheduled for COVID tests this afternoon are encouraged to keep their appointments unless the weather makes travel hazardous. In those situations, students will begin weekly surveillance testing next week.
The storm is forecast to continue overnight and through tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 2, and it is possible travel conditions will require similar measures be taken on Tuesday. Depending on those conditions, SUNY Cortland may decide to shift all scheduled in-person classes for Tuesday to an online format.
This decision will be made early Tuesday morning, and you will be notified as soon as possible via NY Alert email and text, and through our website, social media or news media.
Classes will not be cancelled. All online classes will be held as scheduled. Faculty with scheduled in-person classes will hold class online if they are able. Students with scheduled in-person classes should check Blackboard for guidance.
If the shift to online learning occurs, students, faculty and staff who are scheduled for COVID surveillance testing will not be required to test if they feel traveling to the test site would put them at risk. Testing will continue to be available for those scheduled who are comfortable with reporting.
