Institutional Accreditation
Accreditation is verification of an institution’s effectiveness and integrity and is established through an institutional self-study and peer review. Accreditation is essential as it is required to receive federal financial aid, allow credits to transfer and is a degree requirement for some jobs and graduate schools.
SUNY Cortland is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education referred to as MSCHE or Middle States. Middle States has a set of standards and a process for review that we follow to confirm our on-going accreditation and to ensure that we meet federal requirements.
