Mecke Nagel
Mecke Nagel, Philosophy and Africana Studies departments and the Center for Gender and Intercultural Studies, gave a keynote at the recent Philosophy at Play Conference held April 11 and 12 at the University of Gloucestershire in Cheltenham, England. She presented “Peacemaking through Ludic Ubuntu.”
Christopher D. Gascón
Christopher D. Gascón, Modern Languages Department, presented a paper titled “Music and Metamorphosis in Repertorio Español’s 2015 production of Calderón’s El laurel de Apolo” at the annual symposium of the Association for Hispanic Classical Theater in El Paso, Texas. As secretary of the association, he also helped to organize the conference and support the concurrent Spanish Golden Age Play Festival at the Chamizal National Memorial Theater.
Teagan Bradway
Teagan Bradway, English Department, was awarded a Hunt-Simes Visiting Junior Chair of Sexuality Studies with the Social Sciences and Humanities Advanced Research Centre at the University of Sydney. In February, she traveled to the University of Sydney and taught a seminar on “Queer Relationality” as part of the Hunt-Simes Institute for Sexuality Studies, which ran from Feb. 19 to March 1.

Mark Dodds, Sport Management Department, served as editor of the recently published book, Sports Leadership: A reference guide. The book includes contributions from Sport Management Department professors Genevieve Birren, Lawrence Brady, Ray Cotrufo, Ted Fay, Peter Han, Jordan Kobritz, Tara Mahoney, Matt Seyfried, Tracy Trachsler, George Vazenios and Ryan Vooris, and Kinesiology Department members Katherine Polasek and Brian Richardson.
Mechthild Nagel
Mechthild Nagel, Philosophy Department and Center for Gender and Intercultural Studies (CGIS), has begun her year-long teaching duties at Germany's Fulda University of Applied Sciences, a partner university with SUNY Cortland. She teaches in the areas of social philosophy and diversity education. She received a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Visiting Professorship.

JoEllen Bailey, Physical Education Department, gave a poster presentation titled “Through Educated Eyes: Teacher Candidates’ Views of Field Experience” at the National Field Experience Conference held April 13-14 at the University of Northern Colorado.
Caroline Kaltefleiter
Caroline Kaltefleiter, Communication and Media Studies Department, had her article published in the journal Theory in Action. The article “Dive In: Transformative Education, Direct Action, and Innovative Media Strategies in an (Inter)Collegiate Partnership to Save a Community Pool” highlights an innovative media campaign, design choices and digital media used for capacity building, critical reflection and social justice.

Daniel Harms, Library, presented at the Scientiae: Disciplines of Knowing in the Early Modern World Conference in July at St. Anne's College, Oxford, England. He presented “Hell and Faerie: Differentiation of Fairies and Demons within Ritual Magic of the Early Modern Period."

Robert Spitzer, Political Science Department, presented a paper titled, “New York State and the NY SAFE Act: A Case Study in Strict Gun Laws,” at a conference on “A Loaded Debate: The Right to Keep and Bear Arms in the 21st Century,” held at Albany Law School on Oct. 9.
