The College-Community Appreciation Award was introduced by the President’s Cabinet in 1985 as a means of thanking persons who have assisted SUNY Cortland in a significant manner.
In establishing criteria for the award, the intent was to recognize those who demonstrate a high degree of interest in the university and who have participated in programs and projects that benefit the campus community.
The award program came under the sponsorship of the College Council in 1994. An awards committee was established to review candidates and nominate recipients on an annual basis.
The spirit of college-community cooperation, which is greatly appreciated by SUNY Cortland students, faculty and staff members, continues to guide the Awards Committee in its selection process.
