Creating Movement and Flow - A Conversation of Form and Utility
Fall Exhibition featuring Errol Willett and Edward Feldman
Dowd Gallery opens fall semester 2025 with artists and educators Errol Willett and Edward Feldman. While engage in prolific studio practices, each has been building a tantalizing collection of artwork from peers, colleagues, and professionals in the field of ceramics. This exhibit demonstrates pieces that fracture the philosophical borders between form, function, utility, and the aesthetic virtue of sculpture. Parallel to the personal works of the artists, hand-selected pieces from both Willett and Feldman exemplify the boundary of artwork and functionality. These selections represent over 30 different artists living and working in contemporary ceramics and express the vast diversity of surface and form for the cup. Some selections of the artists also exist beyond the scope of function and represent the fundamental sculptural object, allowing viewers to examine the conceptual lines between form and function.
