Kinesiology Department

Kinesiology is the study of human movement. Interesting careers within the field include working in the fitness industry (i.e., personal trainer or strength and conditioning specialist), working for a professional sports team as an athletic trainer, working as a coach, and conducting research in one of the subdisciplines.

Our programs are designed to prepare you for a wide variety of professions related to physical activity and sport. They also serve as a stepping stone to professional training in an allied health profession (i.e., medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic, etc.) or graduate work in exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor behavior, and sport and exercise psychology.

The Kinesiology Department at SUNY Cortland has a strong national reputation for quality and a long list of successful graduates. With the growing demand for health care personnel, a degree from this program prepares graduates for an exciting future in health and human services.
