A new credential for teacher leaders
SUNY Cortland offers an advanced certificate program for high-achieving teachers looking to make leadership skills stand out on their résumés. The 12-credit credential entails four introductory courses that count toward a Certificate of Advanced Study (C.A.S.) if students wish to continue in the College’s Educational Leadership Program.
Prospective students must hold a master’s degree, professional teacher certification and at least three years of teaching experience.
What are the benefits?
- A stackable credential for teachers who are interested in becoming department chairs, grade-level coordinators, lead teachers or academic coaches;
- Coursework taught in a hybrid format — online learning and five campus visits per semester;
- Higher-level training on topics such as curricular leadership, supervision and organizational change; and
- A formalized introduction to SUNY Cortland’s three C.A.S. programs: School Building Leader (SBL), School District Leader (SDL) and School District Business Leader (SDBL).
