What are the admissions requirements for the Therapeutic Recreation Online Graduate Certificate Program?
To be admitted to the program, you must have completed a bachelor's degree in any academic major before classes begin. The degree must be posted on an official college transcript. Preference will be given to candidates with an undergraduate grade point average of 2.8 or above (on a 4.0 scale).
As part of your application, please provide a resume and a statement of your educational and professional goals.
Once you are admitted to the program, you must meet all graduate school academic standards:
- maintain at least a 2.8 GPA each semester to continue in the program
- have a 3.0 GPA in order graduate from the program and earn the Certificate
How do I apply?
Follow the application instructions provided on the Graduate Admissions webpage.
You will be completing the online application and uploading a resume and goal statement. You will need to have official transcripts sent to the admissions office.
Can I take classes without applying to the Graduate Certificate Program?
Yes, you can take classes without formally applying to the certificate program. You will be a non-matriculated student, which means you have not yet been accepted into an academic program. As a non-matriculated student, you register using a different process and are not eligible for federal financial aid. You will not be able to register for a course until all matriculated students have registered, so there may not be open seats in a course. See the alternate registration webpage for more information on how to register for classes.
You may take up to nine credit hours before you are required to matriculate in order to earn the certificate. For more information, contact Jackie Dyke, program coordinator.
