Twelve senior physical education majors at SUNY Cortland were recognized with Lenore K. Alway/Anthony P. Tesori Awards for their outstanding work in student teaching in New York state schools during the Spring 2010 semester.

Heather Bridge, a seasoned early childhood educator who taught at SUNY Cortland for 10 years, will retire on Aug. 31. She has been designated as assistant professor emerita of childhood/early childhood education.

Robert L. Rubendall, who has spent 30 years overseeing environmental and experiential education at highly respected institutions in New England and Wisconsin, was named the director of outdoor education at SUNY Cortland on June 1.

David F. Berger became the seventh SUNY Cortland faculty member to receive the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service at the 2010 Undergraduate Commencement on May 22.

Melissa Fromm of Albion, N.Y., was awarded the Tau Sigma Scholarship for transfer students.

Girish N. Bhat became the 52nd SUNY Cortland recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching during SUNY Cortland's Undergraduate Commencement on May 22.

Rachel Alexander was recently awarded the top scholarship of $1,500 from Alpha Sigma Lambda, the honor society recognizing the academic achievement of undergraduate students age 24 and older. The Willseyville, N.Y. resident graduated from SUNY Cortland on May 22 with a Bachelor of Science in Childhood Education:Humanities.

Ibipo Johnston-Anumonwo was honored with the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities during the 2010 Undergraduate Commencement on May 22.

Louis Larson was honored with the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service during the 2010 Undergraduate Commencement on May 22 in the Park Center.

The first day of classes for Summer Session I is Wednesday, May 26. Classes begin at 8 a.m.
