Academics

The Recreation, Parks and Leisure Studies Department administers an interdisciplinary environmental and outdoor education minor and areas of concentration. The minor requires a core of 11 credit hours. Students may also select a track in:

  • Environmental Education and Interpretation
  • Outdoor Pursuits
  • Organized Camping

Currently, areas of concentration are available in the following disciplines:

  • Environmental Studies (Childhood/Early Childhood)
  • Environmental Health (Health Science)
  • Environmental Science (Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Geology, or Physics)
  • Business Economics: Environmental Management (Economics)
  • Outdoor Recreation Major with concentrations in:
    • Outdoor Leadership
    • Camp Management
    • Natural Resource Recreation Management
    • Environmental and Cultural Interpretation

Students interested in one of these disciplines as a minor or concentration must seek approval of their academic advisor.

Credit bearing programs held at the Outdoor Education Centers
