Writing Center Resources for Faculty

The Writing Center Director (michael.turner@cortland.edu) is available to help faculty with revising existing writing assignments, constructing new writing assignments, considering approaches for a writing intensive course, or developing writing activities for the classroom.

Classroom Visits

If you're looking to encourage your students to make use of the Writing Center, you might consider scheduling a writing consultant to come speak with your class. These class visits typically last 5-10 minutes and offer a brief overview of our services and philosophies, and they can be tailored specifically to your course and/or requirements. If you are interested in scheduling a class visit, just send an email to michael.turner@cortland.edu.

Workshops and Class Sessions

We are happy to work with you to create a writing or generative writing workshop specifically for your class or on a specific writing topic relevant to your class. If you're interested in either scheduling a collaboration or talking through the possibilities of doing so, email michael.turner@cortland.edu.

Integrating the Writing Center into Assignment or Course Requirements

Some faculty choose to integrate a Writing Center visit as a requirement for a specific assignment or as a course requirement for their students. If you're considering this route, please reach out to michael.turner@cortland.edu so we can discuss the most effective ways to implement this in your course as well as discuss our process for verifying student visits.
