We lead the way in making our campus green.
We are the first SUNY to:
- Sign the American College and University Climate Commitment, committing the campus to pursuing the elimination of its greenhouse gas emissions.
- Go 100% renewable energy for all of our electricity needs
- Develop large scale solar on a SUNY Campus using the New York Sun Initiative
- Build a residence hall that is LEED Platinum, the highest green building standard.
- Achieve a Gold rating in our STARS sustainability assessment from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education
- Create Green Rep program - student educators with the goal of promoting a more sustainable lifestyle across campus.
Additionally, NYSERDA has also recognized us as a REV Campus Challenge Leader promotion Clean Energy Technology in our curriculum and operations.
