The Choral Union, under the direction of Stephen B. Wilson, Performing Arts Department, will resume rehearsals for the fall semester on Monday, Aug. 30. Rehearsals will be held at 7 p.m. in Dowd Fine Arts Building, Room 108.

Senior Rebecca Rozzoni directed her first play, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” in early May at SUNY Cortland’s Lab Theatre.

Audiences for the recent run of the hit Broadway musical “Rent” opened their hearts and gave generously when the all-student cast decided to raise donations in the quest to conquer the AIDS epidemic.

Thomas Hischak, Performing Arts Department, was awarded the Outstanding Reference Book Award of 2009 by the American Library Association (ALA) for his nonfiction work, Broadway Plays and Musicals: Descriptions and Essential Facts of More Than 14,000 Shows Through 2007.

“Rent, the award-winning Broadway rock musical by Jonathan Larson, will be presented by the SUNY Cortland Performing Arts Department April 9-11 and April 16-18 in the Dowd Fine Arts Center Theatre.

The Performing Arts Department will present three classic American one-act plays Dec. 10- 13 in a 90-minute program titled "The Long Christmas Dinner and Other Short Plays By Thornton Wilder." The three comedy-dramas will be performed by an all-student cast in the Dowd Fine Arts Center Lab Theatre. Performances are at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10, Friday, Dec. 11 and Saturday, Dec. 12, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13.

The Performing Arts Department will present its annual Holiday Concert at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8, in the Dowd Fine Arts Theatre.

Broadway's diabolical musical thriller, "Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," will be presented by the Performing Arts Department for six performances at the Dowd Fine Arts Center Theatre beginning Oct 23.

SUNY Cortland has scheduled the following events through the end of the Fall Semester, including concerts, lectures, plays, a musical, a conference, a gospel music festival and other programs. Events are open to the public at no charge, unless noted otherwise.
