Plan Your Time

  • Choose your preferred tool to keep track of your schedule, to-do list, and due dates. Some examples include a mobile app, wall calendar, or bound paper agenda.
  • Create a schedule which can include setting morning and bedtime alarms, dedicating time to your coursework, physical activity, and relaxation/down time.
  • Use syllabi and faculty communications to plan.
  • Try to keep all your materials together (pens, planners, textbooks, calculator, folders, etc.).

Discuss Schedules, Boundaries, and Expectations

  • Your family or roommates will be better able to support your learning if they are aware of your needs.
  • Will you need a quiet space to do work or engage in online class discussions? Do you need to share technology resources? 
  • Try using noise-canceling headphones/earbuds, and/or a white noise app if you are in a noisy environment.

Stay Connected to Friends and University Resources

  • Attend remote faculty office hours or email your professors with questions.
  • Use our library chat tool if you have questions about research. Memorial Library
  • Work with The Learning Center’s professional and peer tutors, Nightowl online tutoring, and more!
  • Use other academic resources through campus. We’re here to help!
  • Try designating a regular group call with friends or family to catch up and support each other.

Self-Care

  • Take breaks and reward yourself! Try listening to a podcast, such as, “The Happiness Lab” by Yale professor Dr. Laurie Santo.
