- Make sure you know your username and password
- Make sure you have regular access to a computer and the Internet
- Test your system for compatibility
- Login to myRedDragon and familiarize with the portal
- Find out how to access your courses in Brightspace
- Make sure you know how to contact the Help Desk
- Explore the Starfish tab on myRedDragon and add your cell number to profile
When Classes First Open
- Login to myRedDragon and access your courses through Brightspace
- Read any course announcements that are posted
- Make note of instructor’s contact information
- Read course syllabus carefully and add all due dates to your planner
- Review reading requirements and plan sufficient time in your schedule to complete
- Review instructor’s grading policy
- Review attendance and participation policy
- Find out how assignments are to be submitted
Throughout the Semester
- Treat online courses like in-person and show up
- Always check announcements and course email
- Participate in class discussions
- Begin your assignments early—don’t procrastinate
- Plan strategies to study for exams and quizzes
- Ask questions when you need clarification
- Check your grades frequently
- Use feedback received to improve future performance
- Revise your time management plan if necessary
- Request help with The Learning Center and The Writing Center if needed
