Protect Yourself and Others
How does COVID-19 spread?
- The virus is thought to spread mainly between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet). It is transmitted through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks — landing in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby.
- It is possible for a person to become infected by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose or possibly their eyes.
What you can do to help limit the spread?
- Wear a face covering
- It’s important to cover your mouth and nose completely. Those carrying the virus may not show symptoms.
- Practice physical distancing
- Distance yourself at least 6 feet apart from others — about two arm lengths.
- Wash or sanitize hands
- Wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds — as long as singing “Happy Birthday” twice.
- Clean and disinfect surfaces
- Sanitize shared common areas and shared electronic equipment regularly.
